I had some questions, that hopefully somebody will be able to answer for me, and confirm. Here they are. 1.) In "LA at Last," was/will the set of the Ricardo's Beverly Palm's Hotel Suite, from The "I Love Lucy" 50th Anniversary Tour, and are now currently housed on display, in The Lucy Desi Museum. I was also going to ask if Lucy's Hollywood Disguise, that Lucy wore in front of Mr. Holden, was the same, and are going to be the same colors that have been on VHS/DVD covers, booklets,etc. They were black, rhinestone-encrusted housecoat, wore over lounging slacks, as well as the scarf she wore on her head. 2.) I always thought that The Beverly Palm's Hotel was a fictional place. I thought the only reference materials for the hotel suite interior consisted of any color still photographs, and the set from the 50th anniversary tour, which is now located at The Lucy Desi Museum. 3.) Was the interior of the Ricardo's suite, at the ficticious Beverly Palm's Hotel, was a replica, based upon an apartment suite, at The Beverly-Carlton? From what I gathered, the colors of the apartment suite set, from the 50th anniversary tour, we're used as reference materials, for the LA at Last episode, and will be seen in the colorized episode, on the special. 4.) My questions regarding the Ricardo's hotel apartment/suite had to do with the interior, not the exterior. Other than the 50th anniversary tour set, does anybody there any other color still photographs of their HOTEL ROOM that existed in the archives? I'm just trying to understand this better. So, the exterior colors will consist of what it looked like in the 1950s, as well as in 2015, and the interior colors will be the same ones seen during the 50th anniversary tour? 5.) What I'm trying to ask is if there are any interior pics of the actual HOTEL ROOM used to inspire the Ricardo Hotel suite and if there are any color pics of the actual Hollywood set to compare? 6.) I was curious if they went with the colors of their hotel suite, as seen on display in the Lucy Desi Museum, or a different color scheme, like the vintage look they did with the other colorized episodes. I thought all the sets in the museum reflected the true colors of what everything really was. It wasn't until years later that I saw actual color photos of both living rooms of both APARTMENTS that what was seen I'm the museum, weren't the real colors, except for the furniture. I was expecting the kitchen to be yellow, in the newly colorized Christmas Special, like it was on display in the museum, but it was green, instead. 7.) In the California episodes, I thought both the name of the hotel, as well as the suite set was ficticious, and wasn't named or modeled after anything. I just thought it was built to look like a hotel suite you'd see in California. So, when I asked if the colors of the HOTEL ROOMinterior were going to reflect the ones seen on display at the museum, I was given all these answers that threw me off, like the colorists went with a combination of what it looked then, and what it looks like now. That's when I was thrown off. I was like how can they go with what it looks like today, when it was a set that was built? So, they were answering my questions, thinking I was talking about exteriors, when I was talking about interiors. So, with the answers I was given, was their suite a replica of a suite from another California hotel, and, if it was, were the colors that we saw on the replica of the set, the same as the real thing, what was seen on the show, what exist in color photographs, and what was used for the exhibit 8.) Is Lucy's Hollywood Disguise Outfit and ACCESSORIES the same colors, that Elois Jenson designed, and is in The Official "I Love Lucy" Paper Dolls Book? I'm talking about the black rhinestone-encrusted housecoat, lounging slacks, scarf, eyeglasses, etc. I didn't mean to, and wasn't trying to confuse anyone. I have a learning disability. I'm perceptually impaired, and have chronic OCD. What I was trying to ask/say/wonder and was curious about was if the Ricardo's Hotel Apartment Suite interior will be colorized with the same color scheme as the one in the museum, and/or was it used in any way, shape or form for color reference. A few curious folks have been asking me what source materials were used to help determine the color scheme used in the upcoming colorization of "LA at Last." Did they use real photos of the set? Did they use the sets created for the Lucy Traveling Show that is now on permanent display in Jamestown? Were there other sources? The answer is yes, all of the above... Try not to worry about it. It does not matter...A wide variety of references were used, and colors were experimented with... The final determination was made by what looked good on the screen... Above all remember that the colors that were chosen by the Desilu craftsmen in the 1950s were chosen not because they were red or blue or green or yellow... They were chosen because of how they would photograph IN BLACK AND WHITE. Many items might not have looked all that realistic in real life... Take Ricky's shirts for instance... They were almost always a pastel shade, either light grey, beige, light blue, etc. Seldom were they stark white... but because of the hot studio lights, the shirts looked to be white to us... But trust me, in real life, Desi Arnaz would have worn nice crisp white shirts with his tuxedos... So again, don't worry about what the actual colors of items were... We hope that the colors our colorization people have chosen will be pleasing and enhance the entertainment value of what are already wonderful pieces of entertainment... JYuhas Posted May 5, 2015 Report Share Posted May 5, 2015 Would anybody be interested in creating/starting a Facebook group, and/or like page, asking CBS to colorize more episodes? On the official "I Love Lucy" Facebook page, the caption for the video said something like, "You've asked, we listened." So, if we could get as many of our Facebook friends to join, as well as maybe post something on our personal Facebook, so whoever is on Facebook could join the group. If they're not on Facebook, we could encourage them to join, even if it's just to help us out, and assist us. We can tell them what we like and/or dislike about the episodes that have been previously colorized, and that we want more of them. I know a lot of the fans want the complete series colorized, as do I, but I don't see that happening, anytime soon. I'd settle for a compilation either on DVD and/or Blu-ray of The Colorized Classics or The Classics Colorized. We can take a poll/vote, give them a list of episodes, that we'd like to see colorized. Or maybe the people behind-the-scenes of the colorization process have narrowed it down, and could let the fans choose. It shows interest on our part, as well as the other fans. The previously colorized episodes were very well received. Not only did they do two Christmas Specials in a row, they've colorized two new episodes, six months after the holidays. In the rules and/regulations, we'd have to stress that this is a group for fans who are interested in more colorized "I Love Lucy" Episodes, and if they're not interested, please don't join, post, and/or comment. I'd even be interested in "The Best of the Colorized Classics or The Best of The Classics Colorized" Handpicked for the Fans, by the Fans:" We can tell them the certain things we like and/or dislike about the newly colorized episodes, and maybe they could explain they did what they did. I believe the company who colorized the last five episodes were done by Legend Films Home Entertainment Distribution. I'd like to conduct an interview with them, with questions by the fans. Its so exciting to see it!!! and the colors that surround them, the warm colors in the apartment, it just feels good! I love the fact that they are getting more into creating a certain color for Lucy's hair - a copper orangish color. I think after a few tries, they may get her highlights to have that carrot orange fiery look- after a few more colorizations of course. Odd colour choice, however, for Ethel's outfit. I hate to think what's going to be cut from these episodes to fit into broadcast length, particularly L.A. at Last.
