CBS will be airing "Lucy Visits Grauman's" and "Lucy and John Wayne" colorized on Sunday, May 22, 2016.

NEW I LOVE LUCY SUPERSTAR SPECIAL, a new one-hour special featuring two colorized back-to-back classic episodes of the 1950s series, to be broadcast Sunday, May 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on theCBS Television Network.

The two episodes, "Lucy Visits Grauman's" and "Lucy and John Wayne," are newly-colorized with a vintage look, reminiscent of the 1950s period in which they were filmed. This is similar to episodes presented in "I Love Lucy" specials on the Network last spring and the past few holiday seasons. Previously only shown separately, the two episodes tell a continuous story in one comedy hour for the first time. As with the previous "I Love Lucy" specials, the main titles and end credits are seamlessly combined into one set at the beginning and end of the hour. Academy Award-winning movie legend John Wayne is the special guest star.

"I Love Lucy" stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and Vivian Vance and William Frawley, as the Ricardos' best friends, Fred and Ethel Mertz.

"Lucy Visits Grauman's" finds Lucy and the Mertzes visiting Hollywood's famed Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where Lucy discovers that the cement slab containing John Wayne's footprints has come loose. Lucy thinks it would be a fabulous souvenir to take home, if only she can come up with a way to take it without being caught.

In "Lucy and John Wayne," Lucy must find a way to replace the pilfered footprints. Ricky tries to help by calling John Wayne, but as usual with Lucy, the seemingly simple task of replicating the footprints becomes a comedy of errors.

"Lucy Visits Grauman's" and "Lucy and John Wayne" originally aired October 3and October 10, 1955, respectively, and became instant classics. "Lucy and John Wayne" was included in CBS's 1958 summer series, "The Top Ten Lucy Shows," as selected by a panel of 155 newspaper TV critics and columnists.

"I Love Lucy" aired on CBS from October 15, 1951 until June 24, 1957. It was voted "the best TV show of all time" in a 2012 viewer poll conducted by People magazine and ABC News.

GREAT!!!  Two of my favorites.

"Ethel, look at me and smile" "Make up yer mind. I can't do both"

"When your motor conked out, MY motor conked out right along with you."

"I'm bigger and stronger and RUGGED-ER"

"All we can do is hope for the best" "Oh, don't worry Fred. She'll (Ethel) show up." "I said let's hope for the BEST"

"I'm surprised you haven't started signing his name on checks."

"That must be that nosy couple"

".....a routine souvenir hunt"

"The Mertzes are in bed with their clothes on and you have what appears to be a block of cement stuck to your foot. I just thought maybe something was up."

"You two are real Bellevue bait"

"If I have to go to jail, I do NOT want to be referred to as a frowsy redhead"

My favorite line:

"Oh, no... I may go home without any fingers but I'm not going home empty handed!"

Love it!

"I Love Lucy, which starred Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley, aired on the CBS network from 1951 to 1957 and ran with consistently good ratings."

Was somebody listening to me, or am I just incredibly lucky?  This is EXACTLY what I wished for, as I stated in the post below from last year. To see this actually come to fruition, I'm elated!!!

Oh, and just a thought here.  Episodes like "L.A. at Last!" are the best way to attract new viewers.  With that in mind, my thought on the perfect (hilarious) hour color special would be "Lucy Visits Grauman's" followed by "Lucy and John Wayne."

Hopefully you'll get the Hilda Josefsburg "Based on an Idea By..." credit and the accompanying remuneration.

:HALKING: Well whether or not my input had anything to do with it, I'm just happy that they're going with these two episodes.  It just makes sense: There were few stars in the '50s bigger than John Wayne, these two episodes are both classics, and together they tell one complete story. That makes for a perfect hour in my mind.  That's how I've felt about it since last year and these guys apparently agree.  So I'm a happy peppy person.

Wait, I thought I Love Lucy ran until May 6th, 1957. Where did June 24th come from?!

But thats awesome that we have a new special! Wish CBS would run them uncut though. Can't somebody buy air time and pay the network for the 10 extra minutes (5 minutes cut out of each episode) I probably said that totally wrong lol

We could create the Ladies Over Colorized Episodes Aid but that's been done a lot lately.   :viv2:  :lucyhmm:

What I find funny is so many people complaining about the colorization when...it's obviously not being done for them but the newer generations.

Ratings alone show the world is interested in more color lucy or they wouldn't be wasting the money on them.

Dvd's, vhs and now blu ray's of the original B/W show will always be there,
