  2. Perfectly stated, Brock. The entire evening was impeccable...and the Daveed Diggs sighting the following day was neat too.
  3. I was able to get Love, Lucy on CD from Barnes & Noble, but I haven't found A Book on CD yet (only CD-MP3). Any recommendations on where to purchase A Book?
  4. Thanks for the tip-off. I'll be sure to bring my copy of Lucy Comes Home along...yet another reason to stop by #59. I'm pretty flexible on schedule too. I have tickets for Lucie, Lilly, Lucy and Ethel's shows and photo op. I think that's pretty much it for now. I may do a walking tour too, but haven't bought a ticket yet.
  5. I hope this is a rhetorical question, but are we planning an annual get-together again this year at the Taco Hut?
  6. Sounds great! So glad Luvsbway's returning.
  7. I first saw it on Lucytown Race's Facebook page and then I checked the website.
  8. What's going on?! I had no idea about the change in Race until this past Friday.
  9. Sad news, but the four years were great fun. "In an effort to focus time and resources on the grand opening of the National Comedy Center, annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, and daily operation of the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, we have come to a decision that Lucy Town Half Marathon & 5K race weekend will no longer take place. We would like to thank the many great volunteers, sponsors, and most importantly YOU, the runners, for making the past four years incredible. We have been proud to welcome runners from across the country to Jamestown and without you none of this would have been possible. While the National Comedy Center will no longer be involved with the annual half marathon, 5K, and kids run, efforts are already being made to have a new race in its place during Columbus Day weekend in downtown Jamestown. Please visit BuffaloRunners.com for more information on the upcoming race. Thank you again for your continued support, and we hope that you have enjoyed participating in our Lucy Race weekend just as much as we’ve enjoyed hosting it!" -quoted from www.runwithlucy.com
  10. How much/many exhibits and materials do they have for the NCC?
  11. I don't have any firm plans for Thursday, so I hope to swing by for the boat racing too. Sounds like fun! I'll be attending the Lucy & Ethel Brunch on Saturday at Noon, but I'll definitely not miss the reunion @ the Taco Hut.
  12. Cool! It would be great if Frank came to Jamestown gain. Nice article about Kate's wedding
  13. Sorry to hear that about Lou Ann, but it's nice to know that the twins will be coming. Dare I guess who their chauffeur may be? Has anyone heard how Frank Gorey's doing?
  14. I'm not sure if we're going to Behar, but we definitely need to get together.
  15. Yes, Mom and Dare coming too. All three of us are registered for the 5K. I was really thrilled that Mom and Dad won Lloyd Faulkner's I Love Lucy Casino Chair in the festival auction. They were so excited about it, they even made a special trip Monday evening (the day after they returned from Jamestown) to deliver it after work. I now have it in my living room and enjoy using it. Now to bring down the needlework, which I won in the silent auction in 2011. (Lloyd made two needlework pieces - the exact same design - of the 100th birthday logo. He donated one to the Center, and it hangs in the Museum gift shop. The other went into the silent auction.)
  16. Amen to that! I was jolly well p*ssed when I heard that he was there in such a capacity. If they're looking for someone to be involved like RW was at this year's festival, why not ask a fan (or fans), such as those of us on this Lounge? Odds are they would have gotten several volunteers to do so.
  17. I made reservations at the Best Western earlier this year, so I'm good with hotel reservations. I learned early on that any time there's an event going on in Jamestown to get hotel reservations well in advance. If I end up not attending, I can cancel with no penalty. Now I just need to register for the race itself.
  18. Actually, a Lucy fan has run the place before. That's not to say that one shouldn't run it again; HOWEVER the Lucy fan needs to have a background (specifically education and experience) in management and/or running a non-profit.
  19. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere on the Lounge, but has anyone seen this video (http://www.krcrtv.com/programming/entertainment/lucy-statue-creeps-out-hometown/32227572) and/or read the Center's statement on it (http://www.lucy-desi.com/statement-lucille-ball-statue-celoron-ny/)?
  20. As a follow-up/reminder, Michael Dykeman of Dykeman Young Gallery is planning to do another Lucy-related exhibit in August of this year. He wants to focus on the fans and their experiences...why they come to Jamestown, why they're fans of Lucy, what are their experiences with Lucy, Jamestown, etc. They're looking for input, ideas, and items for the exhibit and are asking help from the fans. If you want to participate or have any recommendations, contact Dykeman Young Gallery at dykemanyoung@windstream.net or 716-483-5772. Please share this in other threads here on the Lounge and in other venues too. Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPG3xI_iekI for a tour of Dykeman Young Gallery's 2014 "Lucy, I'm Home" exhibit.
  21. Panera does have baked good - bread, rolls, cookies, etc. - but it does have other food as well...mostly salads, sandwiches, and soups. One just opened near us here in PA. We've enjoyed it.
  22. There are two Tim Horton's in Jamestown and one in Lakewood. If you enjoy coffee and haven't tried it yet, do so the next time you come across a TJ, whether it's in Jamestown or elsewhere.
  23. My parents and I went on a candlelight tour of the Fenton last night, and we found that the Lucy Room does indeed still exist. They did decorate the Lucy Room with a decorated Christmas tree and a few gifts (or should I say wrapped boxes?) by it. (We've toured the Fenton before, even during the holidays, but this was our first candlelight tour, and it was very well done.) We've been in town the past few days, visiting the Center, dinner with Joyce, Tim Horton's with other friends, etc. Now it's time to head back home. 1 1/2 days of work and then the vacation's officially on until after the New Year.
  24. While waiting for Bob, we did have another guest pass through and entertain us.
