  1. Wildcat was nominated for the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre album. How to Succeed in Business... won. Lucy won the Aegis Theatre Club Award. Don Tompkins won the Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical Performance.
  2. When I saw a production in 2010, I was surprised at how dark the show was at times. Joe slapped Wildy and there were two moments where he grabbed ahold of her and she cried, “You’re hurting me!” I was also surprised at how much time it seemed like Wildy was off stage. It sounds like this production made some cuts for the better.
  3. I’ve been following the story of this property for the past couple years and at least they don’t make any claim that Lucy actually lived there unlike the countless “Lucille Ball houses” across the country. I’m also curious about the “boring businessmen” Lucy dated in this period.
  4. Could this be Shirley Feeney's beloved Boo Boo Kitty in "Lucy, Part-Time Wife?"
  5. Happy birthday, Doris! I love the attention she is getting.
  6. Carol and Tina Fey are producing a movie based on Carol and her late daughter Carrie! https://variety.com/2019/film/news/carol-burnett-movie-carrie-and-me-1203173222/
  7. Glamorous Sue Casey, who appeared in Lucy Wants a Career and Lucy Meets Danny Kaye, passed away on February 21 at the age of 93. https://m.legacy.com/obituaries/latimes/obituary.aspx?n=sue-casey&pid=191699131&referrer=0&preview=false
  8. In the 1950 Mickey Rooney film “He’s a Cockeyed Wonder,” Terry Moore and her date go to a drive-in movie to see The Fuller Brush Girl. Lucy and Eddie Albert’s names are prominently displayed on the marquee. I only watched this three minute scene and it was clear from that that the movie was unbearably terrible.
  9. It’s nice to see everyone compliment her dancing.
  10. Richard Erdman, who appeared with Lucy in Easy Living and played the disgruntled supermarket manager in Lucy Loses Her Cool, has died at 93. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/richard-erdman-dead-community-stalag-917730
  11. Frank was a warm, kind gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
  12. Very revealing interview with Jenny from Rolling Stone: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/jenny-lewis-on-the-line-new-album-interview-800113/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  13. Netflix will be showing a Laugh-In 50th anniversary special. https://deadline.com/2019/03/rowan-and-martins-laugh-in-still-laugh-in-the-stars-celebrate-netflix-lily-tomlin-1202568687/ I know a lot of cast members have passed away in recent years, but it would be nice if they could have gotten others in addition to Lily and Jo Anne. All the episodes of Laugh-In are currently available on Amazon Prime.
  14. March 2's Google Doodle celebrates Desi on his 102nd birthday! https://www.google.com/doodles/desi-arnazs-102nd-birthday
  15. I’ve never seen his stand up, but Sebastian played Viggo Mortensen’s brother in Green Book. I didn’t know it was him until the end credits.
  16. Stanley Donen’s speech is the ultimate example of why the lifetime achievement awards should be part of the main Oscar ceremony! It never occurred to me how young Stanley Donen was when he began directing these classic musicals. Prior to that, he was a cadet in Best Foot Forward. I thought he and Elaine May seemed like a fun couple.
  17. I’m glad that some excerpts have been released! I assume that the full recording will be going to the Lincoln Center Library. They said that Carole Bayer Sager couldn’t attend at the last moment and they were sending her a copy of the tape.
  18. No, definitely not. It was a noble effort to attempt to do a sitcom in the style of an earlier era, though.
  19. Some photos from this unforgettable night! https://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumnpics.cfm?colid=1918713
  20. Last night was truly a magical evening! Lucie was absolutely incredible. It was like time stood still in 1979. She looked and sounded just as she did 40 years ago. Actually, she was even better! She stopped the show with “I Still Believe in Love.” Robert Klein really impressed me. He sounded great. Lots of Lucy/Lucie fans were present, along with Tommy Tune, Tony Danza, Elaine Joyce, Anita Gillette, and much of the Luckinbill family. The audience was clearly having the best time!
  21. John Mulaney and Sebastian Manisalco will be the stand up headliners! John Mulaney is my favorite comic working today. He’s a Lucy fan and I always thought he would be a perfect fit for the festival. I’ve never seen Manisalco before, but I know he has a huge fanbase. https://comedycenter.org/sebastian-maniscalco-john-mulaney/
  22. The Gypsy movie is in the works again, although Barbra has exited the project. Amy Sherman Palladino is in talks to direct. Melissa McCarthy is under consideration as Rose. The only Melissa McCarthy singing I’m familiar with is her duet of “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” with Barbra Streisand, in which they fight over the same role! https://deadline.com/2019/02/gypsy-amy-sherman-palladino-the-marvelous-mrs-maisel-revival-new-regency-1202551539/
