The remarkable character actress Connie Sawyer has been cut down in the prime of life at 105, according to fellow actress Jackie Joseph. :(

Rick McKay, who directed the invaluable documentary, Broadway: The Golden Age, has died at 57. He leaves behind two unfinished docs: Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age and Broadway: The Next Generation.

I think about every 6 months someone asks on the Bway boards what is going on with those unfinished docs. There is so much footage there. I hope it gets used somehow.

I've lost count how many times I've seen Broadway: The Golden Age. I think every time I've turned it on in progress on PBS I watched until the end. I loved the little teasers Rick posted on YouTube from the future films.

:( In his heyday, Gavin had to be the best looking actor in film. He costarred opposite Lucie in the national tour of Seesaw. His musical theater career started after producers saw him sing "You're Just in Love" with Viv on The Mike Douglas Show.

Broadway star Jan Maxwell has died at 61. She was a favorite of the Tony nominators, but, unfortuntately, never won the award. She was a talented dramatic, comedic, and musical actress and it was clear in interviews that she had a great sense of humor.

I saw this earlier tonight. Very sad. I got to see her in Follies.
