C L A U D E
Lucy and Julia's nomination record for most nominated comedy actress is a bit unfair. All of Julia's Seinfeld nominations were in the supporting category and Lucy received multiple nominations in the same year. Cloris Leachman has 22 Primetime Emmy nominations. I don't know of any other person who has more for performing. I think Betty White is two or three behind her. Mary Tyler Moore has 15 nominations overall. YES, BECAUSE THEY GIVE WAY TOO MANY NOMINATIONS NOWADAYS, A LOT MORE LIMITED IN LUCY'S DAY, VERY UNFAIR!
Lucyilove
YES, BECAUSE THEY GIVE WAY TOO MANY NOMINATIONS NOWADAYS, A LOT MORE LIMITED IN LUCY'S DAY, VERY UNFAIR! Yeah the Emmys were ridiculous in the early 1960's in particular just giving a handful of nominations at all a few years. Even then "The Danny Kaye special with Lucille Ball" (or whatever it was called, have never seen it) managed to snag a nomination - she herself certainly would have won that year if there had been a guest variety category like there is now where SNL guest hosts can win. Exactly! Remember the days where a star fought to win all four major awards, the EGOT it's called, for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Now there's a whole slew pf people who have won all four or are close to having them all. Look at Jimmy Fallon, an Emmy and a Grammy already, the awards mean amost nothing nowadays. JoeySanJoaquin
This'll be the hottest ticket in town -- if it isn't "sold out" already! Damn! BTW The articles on this surprisingly don't mention but HIC is shot at the same studio -- not sure if the same soundstage -- as TMTMS, Rhoda and Phyllis all were back in the glory MTM days, now known as CBS Radford in Studio City. So much for the old "you can't go home again" 'spression!

So much for the old "you can't go home again" 'spression! Yeah BUT, are the ratings of HIC as big as those old shows were? I think not, by a long shot, although this particular episode and their recruting these old superstars will get more and more of us fans to tune in the show. Brock
George Hamilton has also been cast in Cleveland's MTM reunion. Hopefully they will fill "Rex" and "Waiter" with Ed Asner and Gavin McLeod! http://www.whosay.com/jessetylerferguson/photos/315953

At the table: Cloris, MTM, Valerie, Betty and Georgia. Behind them are Jane, Valerie B, Wendy and George Hamilton. Scurrying about in the white suit is "Modern Family's" Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Can't wait until it airs in September to see it edited for air. "Love is All Around" indeed.

Brock
A recap from Michael Stern: http://rumorfix.com/2013/04/valerie-harper-flubs-her-line-calls-mary-tyler-moore-mare-exclusive/
rickee
A recap from Michael Stern: http://rumorfix.com/...mare-exclusive/ Michael summed it up perfectly. The taping was long (they redo entire scenes several times each these days) but the audience loved seeing the old gang back together interacting with the new gang of HIC gals. MTM, though thin and frail, delivered her lines as only she could. Valerie (looking gorgeous) was a dynamo and received a huge, lengthy standing ovation. In the show she used a thick NY accent. Cloris was most definitely the class clown (as expected) and IMO had the best lines and delivery. She is a natural force to be reckoned with! The script was full of nods to the "old days" but they were playing old bowling pals from the 1960's and the fur did fly. What an amazing night to be at an historic taping. "Love" was definitely all around last night! Show airs in September.

Would you say the MTM Gang gets the majority of the show with Valerie, Wendie and Jane taking a back seat, or is it pretty evenly split? JoeySanJoaquin
Me neither. Perhaps the horrible way in which they describe it....yet she seems to have given her blessing to do it, to participate, to allow "full access", whatever that means. Just seems ...icky for lack of a better word. I dunno.... it's all so sad.

leenorman
Not sure how I feel about this... http://www.hitfix.co...pers-dying-days WOW! What courage; to let us in on her family crisis! Let's hope for the best; in the meantime, let's pray that 'others' in similar situations are given some hope and some peace for her unselfish act in doing this storytelling episode which may ultimately end her life on earth. I salute her for doing so; and, I pray for a miracle for her....
