JoeySanJoaquin
Oh but I have the election in the bag as I've been courting Ruth Knickerbocker for months now. She's all yours, buddy!
C L A U D E
Ooooooh, involuntary "SHUDDER", just realized how OLD Ruth's mom would be now, she's probably dating Larry King. And calls Betty White "KID".

Luvsbway
Dating gossip on Al and Orson. I wonder how true this Cleo story is since they didn't even get her name correct. March 30, 1938 Aug 16, 1939
HarryCarter
Cleo's stage name at the time was Cleo Manning. She and Artie Auerbach did eventually marry. It's interesting that they describe Lucy as a blonde when she most certainly was not in 1938. They also got Jack Haley's name wrong.
Luvsbway
Well I'll be sheep dipped. I didn't know any of that. Had no idea Cleo had a stage name, although that would make sense given the complexity of her last name. I don't know if I even knew she was married before Kenny. Then of the 3 "siblings" Lucy had the least amount of marriages. I figured that Jack's name was wrong and that's who they were trying to mention. HarryCarter
Artie Auerbach worked with Lucy on Phil Baker and Jack Haley's radio shows. Desi wrote in his book that when Grandpa Hunt was re-introduced to Kenny Morgan after had married Cleo, he said, "What happened to Artie?"
Luvsbway
Well what did happen to Artie? How long did that marriage last? Funny how the last spouse seemed to stick for all three.
HarryCarter
Artie made frequent appearances on The Jack Benny Program as the character Mr. Kitzel up until his death in 1957. Cleo and Artie married in 1938 and were divorced by 1942 since that's when she married Kenny Morgan.
leenorman
LOTS of good 'stuff' up above and THANKS for it We still don't know when Cleo ended with Kenny; and when Cecil came into the picture. ANYONE? Love this stuff....JK

Speaking of Jack Benny, besides Milt Josefsberg, Harry, who else worked for my two favorite comedians of all time. Saw loads of familiar names when watching the various Jack Benny Christmas programs but did not jot them down. Do YOU know?
Luvsbway
Two articles talking about when Lucy got stranded in Milwaukee and Desi calling her to get to NYC so he could marry her. Looks like Lucy has a new occupation yet again in this first one. Nov 18, 1940 May 5, 1953

Luvsbway
Interesting stuff in this article. Wonderful opinions on Jean Stapleton, Bea Arthur, Joan Rivers, and Carol Burnett. Lucy also mentions a bit about Gary and Lenny and also his involvement in the studio when he started. I got the biggest laugh out of her reaction to Barbara Walters. Brock
This article is wondaful! Thanks! I love her comments on Baba Wawa -- and I'm sure Lucy only turned off Blazing Saddles once Lili Von Schtupp showed up.

Funny how she would say she loved or hated something, in this case, All in the Family and then would later reverse herself completely on the same subject. Lucy said in this conversation that she hated the show when it first started because she thought Archie never got his comeuppance. She said after the first season of 13 episodes that was changed and she liked the show much more.

No wonder she was able to pose with Norman Lear at the TV Hall of Fame inductions without wincing, LOL!

To be honest, it's probably my least favourite of all Brooks' films -- but a phenomenal cast.

True and i also love all the other Mel Brooks films. Even the ones he produced like Night, Mother with Anne, a masterpiece.
