I can't see anything between Lucille and Robert Osbourne myself.   :lucyeww:

There's one picture of them I really love; the two of them together; she was his date or he was hers - WHATEVER!  In any event, I do believe he was just one of the 'kids' she took under her arm in the Desilu Playhouse; much as Ms. Rogers did in Lucille's youth, and taught them 'stuff' they would need to do good.  She even steered him AWAY from acting, his first love; and into writing, which he certainly made GOOD with.  I truly think they became friends, true friends.  It's for SURE HE LOVE HER from his oft-repeated story of their meeting.

Bob used to escort her to shows she wanted to see whenever her husband was not available for that.  There was this one story where she waited for Desi to go to bed to be able to paint the town RED with all her young people from the Playhouse, but especially Robert.

And wasn't she climbing out a window like some kid who was grounded and couldn't use the front door.

Yes, i think so.  This was during the period where she and Desi never went out anywhere as he was always drunk and humiliated her in public, from '55 to the divorce.  My dad was an alcoholic and i remember how i dreaded the Holiday gatherings for the same reason.

For anyone who doesn't know what Jane Fonda said, the essence is this "Jane Fonda maintains that Henry Fonda had a passionate mid-life love affair with Lucille Ball. She says that the affair began when Henry and Lucy were making the comedy, Yours, Mine and Ours." That was during the Gary years I think?

Good for her, maybe that's why she made those visits to his house at the end of his life and later advised his wife Shirlee on what to do after he passed.

Ah I can just picture it. They’re in San Fran doing the on location shots for YM&O and Lucy laments about being abandoned for the golf course. Hank thinks this it the right time to make up for that bad date in the 30s. Meanwhile if you believe Rafael’s book he is with Gary overseas somewhere at the same time and is trying to get some girls and not get caught by her. Hank is not a bad choice if she was going to do something. If she did have an affair during the Gary years I wonder what the rational was. Boredom, loneliness?

As for Bob I enjoy listening to him talk about Lucy. I remember one interview he said that when everything so was so bad in the late 50s she would come over to his place and sleep on the couch just so she could be near people. I guess she didn’t want to be alone as then you start thinking and that would just upset her.

I’ve heard him mention this in 2 different interviews. Apparently one of the many pet names Desi would call Lucy was “mamma”. Never heard it until once I was watching Little Ricky has Stage Fright and as she is getting Little Ricky dressed in the dressing room and we get a time check from Ricky, just as Desi goes to leave the room he calls her that. I’m always so happy to catch those really minor things that were cross overs to life off screen.

Bob just like Carole seemed to be able to hang around throughout the decades. He talks about being at the opening night Seesaw party in LA for Lucie that her parents threw for her and how they were still very sweet to each other.

I always like when we get his intro and exists bits when TCM is showing a Lucy movie.
