Irene Kampen Tripp 284 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 If I see this in the stores... First they will have to revive me since I know I will pass out then I will let ya'll know if it exists. I think (if it does that it would be really cool)!
Brock 3,449 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 If I see this in the stores... First they will have to revive me since I know I will pass out then I will let ya'll know if it exists. I think (if it does that it would be really cool)! I'm rooting for you. lol It's strange. There seems to be no reference to this magazine anywhere on the net except this Instagram account. I checked on the i-5 publications website (as indicated in the barcode) and the only tv/film publications listed on their site and in their spring catalogue are tributes to The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind, so that's either a year old or they are woefully behind the times. likewow 15 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 I'll try Barnes & Noble. Thanks for posting this, I hope we find it!

I blew up the pic and the left corner says "display until September 2015" so it is a new one.

Lucille Ball fan 42 Report post Posted June 22, 2015 I found this new I Love Lucy magazine at a local department store in my area. It is full of nice pictures. It tells all about the I Love Lucy show. A very nice magazine.

Mot Morenzi 1,734 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 For those who have this, does it contain any new or insightful information? Or is it just a casual rehash of commonly known facts and trivia? Also, any glaring mistakes?
Luvsbway 2,272 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 I was standing on line at the grocery store last night and saw a Time with the cover, Inside The New Cuba. I thought Cuba, magazine, oh the Lucy mag. So went and found it. No new info but some nice pictures. Found 2 errors already though. Sidebar article on Lucy's friendship with Viv reports that same old 20lbs rumor as fact. A pic of Desi on Mothers In Law says he had a cameo playing himself. Hoping to read more today so i will report back.
likewow 15 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 I had to go across town to the other B&N, but they had this magazine! Thanks for letting us know. I never would have noticed it among all the other magazines.
Neil 1,505 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Three new books with Lucy ties: Biography of Madeleine Kahn, Autobiography of agent Stevie Phillips who represented Liza until Liza met Desi, Jr. , and "Collision" a theatrical memoir of a man who started out his career as an usher for "Wildcat". I'll report.
Lucyilove 234 Report post Posted July 2, 2015 This magazine is already showing up on Ebay. That's exactly where I saw it the other day, it's apparently "brand new" to newstands (note the cover says something like display (sell) until September 2015 or something. I definitely will want to check this out first before buying it and hope it is really a nice new tribute.
tjw 199 Report post Posted July 2, 2015 Found the magazine today in a chain grocery store... Ralph's here in Los Angeles (owned by the Kroger stores)... Seems to be nicely done... tjw
Neil 1,505 Report post Posted July 5, 2015 Got mine today. A sidebar lists the entire staff that works for the company who put together the magazine. Noted for each was their favorite episode. Their CFO Nicole Fabian picked "Lucy Goes to the Rodeo"!! Others besides the usual: "First Stop" "Ethel's Hometown" "Camping Trip" "Redecorating" "Camping Trip" "Tells the Truth" "Paris Gown". NOBODY ever picks my favorites. (which include "Dancing Star" "Ricky Asks for a Raise" and "Charm School") One sidebar comment that was inaccurate "Elvia Allman of "Job Switching" had a recurring role on "The Lucy Desi Comedy Hour". Did she appear in more than 2? (as different characters). As time goes on, Lucy's impressive post-I Love Lucy career gets scanter attention. They cover TLS, HL and LWL with an article entitled "No Longer a Hit" (??!!). And a pet peeve of mine (and I have plenty of pets) is the overuse of the word "iconic".
Freddie2 972 Report post Posted July 6, 2015 In line at the store today, The National Examiner's cover story was on "The Secret Life of Lucille Ball" it was a two page article that basically said she was still in love with Desi after they divorced. HarryCarter 1,222 Report post Posted July 6, 2015 Noted for each was their favorite episode. Their CFO Nicole Fabian picked "Lucy Goes to the Rodeo"!! I assume that's the only episode of the series Nicole has seen then.

Whilst I agree that nothing tops "I Love Lucy," her later shows do get the short end of the stick. I'd love to see a magazine that focuses exclusively on her later TV career (shows, specials, guest appearances and telefilms). That would provide many people with information that they've never read before and would surely generate some TLS and HL DVD sales. Rather than continuously rehashing "I Love Lucy" over and over, give the general public some new focus for a change. Surely the magnitude of her "iconic" name would spark interest?
Lucille Ball fan 42 Report post Posted July 6, 2015 A magazine about her after I Love Lucy years is a great idea. So much happened in her career in the later years. The Wildcat play, The Facts Of Life, The Lucy Show, Critics Choice, Yours Mine And Ours, Here's Lucy, Mame, Stone Pillow, Life With Lucy. And so much more.

I think this is one of the "strengths" if you will of Fidelman's "The Lucy Book" as it encompasses virtually her entire career and certainly does not focus solely on "ILL"... although I do find his (as the book goes on) own personal "criticisms" untoward and distracting and unnecessary....I'll form my own opinions thank you based on the information provided... and knowing what he prints as "fact" sometimes isn't also undermines his credibility, at least for me. Just my two centavos!
Freddie2 972 Report post Posted July 7, 2015 You could write a whole book about the history of The Lucy Show; how it came about, Desi's involvement, Viv's departure, the Emmys, the cast changes, the celebrity appearances, etc.
