She was frugal, he spent more than he had, they both gambled and drank but she did it in moderation, he never knew the meaning of the word. He said it himself in his book that he tade the word PRACTICAL and never understood how to apply that to his life, nor did he want to. He cheated on her but claimed they were just prostitues and didn't matter, only she mattered to him, his wife.
