Lucy and Ricky are having trouble adjusting to living in the country and they both miss the Mertzes. Betty Ramsey redecorates Lucy and Ricky's new home with new furniture that Lucy and Ricky can't afford. It results in a misunderstanding and a fight. Ricky is worrying about new expenses for the new home like the extra cost in utility bills. Lucy suggests that they make money by raising chickens and selling the eggs. Dressing up like a gorgeous model, playing poker with Ricky and his pals, and dressing up like Carmen Miranda to remind him of his mother and growing up in Cuba. Ricky the clueless on the third try realizes something is amiss.\ The Mertzes and the Ricardos stuffed themselves on oysters. They realize that they are all getting fatter and Lucy is the only one who denies that she is. Lucy is mortified that she has gained so much weight since she was married. There is a part in Ricky's new nightclub act and Lucy wants it. Ricky says she can't because she is too fat to fit into the outfit that she will perform in. Lucy goes on a extreme diet coached by her friend Ethel. She can only eat celery and must have a rigorous workout. Not shedding enough for the show, she resorts to sitting in a "human pressure cooker". She does the show but afterwards she gets sick because she is malnourished. Lucy thinks Ricky is a trivia genius so she gets him on a quiz show to find out later that he cheated to impress her. Ricky thinks he is losing his hair and she pays $90 out of her emergency money for drastic measures to relieve Ricky's worrying. You should be ashamed of yourself, You MAN you!!! The Ricardos and the Mertzes destroyed a $75 washing machine. Lucy upstages Ricky's nightclub performance. Lucy gets the applause while Ricky thinks it's all for him. Lucy tricks Ricky into being a host to a television show that her woman's club is giving, but Ricky wasn't aware that he was tricked.
