The New Favourite Lucy Photos Thread !

Recommended Posts

These are GREAT! And what a way to start out! But could ya fix the spelling for this thread?? Even for the "Canadian" way to spell it (with an "u"), "Favoruite" is misspelled!!

May as well start off right! :D

I agree! You know, it boggles the mind how some of this wonderful stuff ends up on YouTube, particularly when it's a clip like this from a one-time-only aired special event (week's worth of shows, if I remember right) because this was back in the day BEFORE home VCRs became de rigeur!

Now perhaps someone who worked there at the time somehow got a copy on professional-grade videotape and that's how it "leaked" out onto the internet....but I don't think it was from some "casual" fan!

No matter......oh, so very cool!!! :D

I dun't thin i've ever seen that pic with Jane Russell in it too, usually it's just Lucy, Betty Grable of course and Marylin, Louella Parsons, Hedda's biggest comepetition is up front but who are the old men?

The man next to Betty above Lucy looks like William Powell to me.

I don't think that's William Powell... but I don't have a better guess either.

The photo, taken on April 7, 1953 at Winchell's birthday party was held at the famed Sunset Strip nightclub, Ciro's. The exact lineup, from back row, left to right is: 20th Century Fox mogul, Darryl F. Zanuck, Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, Walter Winchell and Jane Russell. Front row is of course Lucy, famed songwriter Jimmy McHugh and the ever-lovely (not) Louella Parsons.

Just found this website with more pictures from that party.

It was Walter Winchell's birthday in 1953. I can see from the other pictures it is not William Powell.

Geez, they sure took loads of pics from that friggin party, great webpage Har, thanks for posting the link, if you find more, go for it., LOL!
