I dunno... I'd like her to get with someone younger like say, her long-time-still-unrequited love Robert Redford...I mean he's only what, 80??

No offense to the elderly Reiner but he looks like you could knock him over with a feather!!

Anyone else seen TQoT on the above-referenced episode of Young and Hungry? :vanda:

I did..... Hate to say.... it's getting hard to watch her... she was seated in every scene, never walked or got up for any reason... there was even a chair placed in an AM/PM-type gas station/mini-mart in front of a slot machine (the "plot", such as it was had the gals heading for Vegas....don't ask!) so that Bets could do a bit of business... not very ...realistic, IMHO.

Surely she'll not be making an entrance then and will most likely be first shown already seated....

Sigh...it's hell watching our icons grow old!!  :lucyblah:

NBC's ratings hit Little Big Shots has gotten a spinoff called Little Big Shots: Forever Young, which showcases the talents of senior citizens. Apparently Betty will be making a special appearance. And yes, from the one photo I've seen, she is sitting in a chair.

The Queen of Television is still ruling, but nowadays she's doing it from her Royal Throne.

Yes, sadly we'll probably never see her walk/mobile in a scene, appearance or entrance -- unless carefully escorted by, most likely, someone on either side of her--ever again; happily however, as you point out, she's still "ruling", still at it and I for one am thrilled and hope she never stops (unless she simply must)! :HALKING:

(Pardon me if this has been posted previously but if so, I didn't see it)

I wish the backstage story behind the ALLEGED conflict between Lucy and Bea during Mame had been documented.  One of those gossip columnists (Radie Harris?) mentioned the conflict between the two in her column and only retracted when Lucy threatened to SUE.

I wish I had had the wherewithal and the inside track to do a real day to day analysis about the making of "Mame"---so many unanswered questions taken to numerous graves.

Maybe because she was a woman with power, I don't know the reason, but post I Love Lucy (and even during) whenever a story is told about a conflict a co-star or co-worker had with Lucy, the tone of the telling is ALWAYS sympathetic to the other person with Lucy being the irrational bitch.  (Yes, Maury Thompson and Herbert Kenneth, I'm talking to YOU. And even you: Joan Blondell.....perhaps the scene did stink through no direct fault of yours or MAYBE just MAYBE Lucy was referring to the material and not your handling of it.  Perhaps you should have thought of those other possibilities before your "Fuck you Lucille Ball" exit pronouncement that ended what might have been a semi-steady gig.)

Bea may have been more like her acerbic characters than we've been led to believe.  I saw her one-woman show (in Salem Oregon of all places--an hour's drive from Portland).  I had heard the CD so I was prepared for the ribaldry of her "stories".   I don't think the white-haired Salem crowd was.  What I was shocked about was that Bea couldn't get a booking in the metropolitan area of Portland and had to settle for a small theater in podunk Salem.

Wow, that article paints their "feud" in a much darker light than I'd previously read. Sounds like a true clash of personalities there. I wonder how long it'll take before Ryan Murphy comes knocking (casting suggestion: Julianne Moore as Rue McClanahan).

Forever Young was the most-watched program last night. I was pleased to see that Betty's surprise appearance was to honor Arthur Duncan. I didn't think he was still with us! Fun Fact: Arthur and fellow Lawrence Welk cast member Jo Anne Castle have their hands and feet imprinted in cement outside my hometown's chamber of commerce... I have no idea why.

Thanks for this; forgot it was on. Had seen the preview a couple of times and noted that once again, Bets was seated (rather queen-like, on a sort of "throne"); was she seated the entire time on camera? I'm guessing yes but just curious.  Guess I'll look for it On Demand.

Her whole appearance was seated. When are they gonna hit her up to appear in A Little Night Music?

Today is the 40th anniversary of The Betty White Show- Betty and Georgia's post-MTM swing. Of all the ex-WJM team members, only Gavin McLeod and Ed Asner had immediate followup success with their shows. Lou Grant didn't get great ratings but it won a ton of Emmys and a Peabody, and we all know what a cultural signpost Love Boat is.

TBWS never gets mean enough to be really hilarious. It's third-rate MTM, but any interactions between Betty, Georgia, and John Hillerman are bound to have value.

Between roughly 1974-1985 (MTM-Mama's Family) is like the golden age of Evil Betty. After Golden Girls she turned into Nice Betty and since 2009 she's been Beloved Badass Betty. I'd like to see Evil Betty again because it's probably her funniest "characterization".

Also, for anyone wondering how she's doing, she was hanging out with Valerie Bertinelli yesterday, as seen on Twitter. Today she and Val were at some sort of live theater event where they screened and discussed Golden Girls clips. Did I mention she's rocking a new hair color?
