C L A U D E
I would say some of Lucy's closest female friends through the years would include Pauline Lopus, Marion Strong, Gertrude Foote, Barbara Pepper, Virginia Peine, Ginger Rogers, Ann Sothern, Marcella Rabwin, Mary Wickes, Jane Kean, June Havoc, Hedda Hopper, Vivian Vance, Carole Cook, Paula Stewart, and Lillian Briggs. Wow, i expected nothing less from YOU. What a great list, except i do not know the names Gertrude Foote, Virginia Peine, who are they? And maybe Sheilah MacRae should have been included? Rosemary Clooney, Polly Bergen, Agness Moorehead, Jimmy Stewart, as part of her neighborhood friends.

And Lucy dated George's bodyguard Mack Grey so Ginnie dated Raft himself. Did not remember those names.

Good God you're good. I know Mr Sedgwick and his wife Ebba, but can you tell me anything about the next five listed, i know all the ones afterwards as of Mr Peale. And i may be wrong BUT, wasn't Renee DeMarco Desi's girldfriend Freckles whom he dumped for Lucy?
C L A U D E
Can we add Carole Lombard and Clark Gable to the list? Yes, as they WERE great friends, but it couldn't have lasted too long as Carole died during that War Bond selling tour and i assume Lucy only befriended THEM when they bought the house in the Valley near theirs so that's like only a couple of years for Carole, longer for Clark of course. And Lucy could have befriended Carole long before when they were both starting out at the studios.

He took Lucy to see Too Many Girls where she first saw Desi. Markert created the Rockettes. Francis Lederer was an actor. He costars in A Woman of Distinction, in which Lucy has a cameo. He and his wife Marion were childless, so they spent Christmas with the Arnazes each year until Lucie was born. The Lederers' fight at the Arnazes' house was the basis for the episode "Fred and Ethel Fight." The other couple at the dinner party was Renee DeMarco and husband Jody Hutchinson. Renee was indeed Desi's former fiancee. Phyllis Fraser was Ginger Roger's cousin. She, Ginger, and Lucy were always together. Phyllis was married to Bennett Cerf for many years. After he died, she married former New York mayor Robert Wagner. Bernard Newman was the head of fashion at RKO. He hired Lucy for Roberta. He was frequently an escort during her early days at RKO. You Sir, are a wealth of knowledge, i knew most of that but had already forgotten it fourteen times since old age set in, thanks again. I was especially curious about the Lederers as i had read about them many times and had heard their names mentionned many times also. CREATED the Rockettes, wow! Yeah, there's a lot of that going around. People live so much longer nowadays. Ok, next question, how much money did Lucy leave in her estate? I have read in more than one place that it was in the viscinity of 22 million. Now seeing as her house was left to sell and they thought they'd get 7 and a half million but only got 3 and a half million, does that mean her estate was diminished by about four million? What a great list, except i do not know the names Gertrude Foote, Virginia Peine, who are they? And maybe Sheilah MacRae should have been included? Gertrude Foote is a Jamestown-related friend, who I believe, since she was beautiful, went to Hollywood and/or NYC with Lucille; but, came back home... no career there that I know of; I went to school with her niece and nephew, one a year older, and the other cuppla years younger; we are ALL old now... Still investigating cuppla of the others Harry has mentioned. I know when she came back to Jamestown, later years of high school or maybe even later than that, lived in an apartment in Jamestown with a girlfriend; can't put a name to that roommate right now. I'll have to ask around, unless Harry knows....Harry????
leenorman
Here's SOMETHING that has been 'bugging' me a very long time: My research reveals that Lucille Ball was NOT included, by appearance, or mention in the following two Specials: [hoping someone can explain to me why NOT!!!!] 50 YEAR CELEBRATION OF THE ACADEMY TV ARTS & SCIENCES 1997 TV LAND CLASSIC TV AWARDS CELEBRATION 2003 In my view, this is a complete lack of respect for our girl, unless, of course, there are extenuating circumstances....ANYONE???? I don't want to sound too self-promoting, but there's a whole chapter on the topic in "Lucille Ball FAQ." Some of the men Lucy dated through the years: Vinnie Myers (Jamestown classmate; his name was later used as Lucy Carmichael's old flame) Johnny DaVita Roger Furse (later an Oscar winning art director) Ralph Forbes (actor - love interest in "Annabel Takes a Tour") Mack Gray (assistant to George Raft and later Dean Martin; later band manager for Dino, Desi & Billy) Pandro S.
