Temple, known in private life as Shirley Temple Black, died at her home near San Francisco. A talented and ultra-adorable entertainer, Shirley Temple was America's top box-office draw from 1935 to 1938, a record no other child star has come near. She beat out such grown-ups as Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, Robert Taylor, Gary Cooper and Joan Crawford. They ended with 'Good Ship Lollipop' and a bunch of balloons and confetti fell from the ceiling. Shirley was absolutely ecstatic to be there. I don't remember that girl ever being sad. C L A U D E Posted February 12, 2014 Report Share Posted February 12, 2014 Well Brock, we remember her most as a kid, a cute little girl who did these great movies, we always remembered her that way, didn't matter if she was a U N Ambassador, to most of us, it was always that little girl who got a tiny little Oscar and brought huge audiences to theaters to see the talented kid. Used to LOVE her movies, but what did they show as her obit picture, that's right, the cute little girl with a head full of curls who entertained millions with her innocent little movies. I just watched the biopic Disney made about her a few months ago. Learned a lot about her life as a child. I'll have to track down a copy of the book now.
