Brock
And then there were three. Munchkins Jerry Maren (Lucy & Ma Parker), Ruth Robinson Duccini, and Margaret Williams Pellegrini survive. Pictures and video at the source below: Dublin's living link to a bit of Hollywood legend passed away Tuesday. He is Karl Slover, who played one of the Munchkins in the 1939 classic, "The Wizard of Oz." Laurens County Assistant Coroner Nathan Stanley says Slover died around 3:40 Tuesday afternoon at Fairview Park Hospital. Stanley said he died of cardiopulmonary problems caused by old age. Slover was 93. At 4-foot-5, Karl played the lead trumpeter in the Munchkins' band, among other roles. When we spoke to him four years ago, he said he made just $50 for his work in the movie, but it put him on the yellow brick road to other film roles. Well into his 90s, Slover traveled the world to attend Wizard of Oz fan festivals. He lived for decades in Laurens County, and Stanley said he is survived by an adopted niece. Mister Hepburn
I love that he (and so many of the other Munchkins) made so much out of their stint in The Wizard of Oz, traveling the globe to attend festivals where they were worshipped.
