Legendary comedian, actress, and author Carol Burnett will be honored by the City of Los Angeles with the naming of Carol Burnett Square at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Selma Avenue. The official naming will take place at 2pm on April 18, when council member Tom LaBonge and Carol Burnett herself will unveil the square's new plaque.

Carol Burnett Square is located next to Hollywood High School, Ms. Burnett's alma mater. The Hollywood High School's Performing Arts Center recently named the "Honor of Distinction Award" after Ms. Burnett for her outstanding accomplishments in the arts.

The naming of Carol Burnett Square will recognize Burnett's lifetime achievements in the entertainment industry, which include The Carol Burnett Show. In 2007, the show, which won 25 Emmy Awards, was named by Time magazine as one of the "100 Best Television Shows of All Time."

Burnett's many other accomplishments include Broadway appearances in Once Upon a Mattress, Fade Out-Fade In, Putting it Together, and Moon Over Buffalo. She also cowrote the autobiographical play Hollywood Arms with her daughter Carrie Hamilton. In addition, Burnett won an Emmy Award for a guest appearance on Mad About You.
