Hollywood (AP) Movie-TV Writer, Bob Thomas: “At a recent dinner party, a former co-worker asked Lucille Ball and Ann Sothern if RKO Studios had changed since the days when they worked there together. ‘Yes’, replied Ann; ‘Lucille owns it.’ Lucille added: ‘And Ann made over the wardrobe department for her dressing room,’” published this date in 1959.

Marl Young, d. 4/29/09; the first black musical director of a network series, eventually adding three more black musicians to the orchestra; was first hired to do arrangements for the Desilu Workshop, a Lucille Ball project in the late 50's; Lucille's composer/musical director, The Lucy Show, having taken over from Wilbur Hatch and Julian Davidson (Desilu orchestra contractor), for whom he was assistant musical director, and continuing for all episodes of (“Here’s Lucy”), as well as the soundtrack for Desilu Productions', Mission: Impossible “Illusion”, 1969, an episode after Desilu was no longer on board, is born this date, 1/29, in 1917.
