Brock
A gown allegedly belonging to Lucille Ball will feature on this Sunday's edition of the antiques appraisal show "Four Rooms" on CBC at 8 p.m. You can see the gown at the link below in the top photo. Does anyone recognize it? http://www.snapvictoria.com/index.php?option=com_sngevents&id=312416
Mot Morenzi
I don't recognize it, but it looks like one from her 70s/80s wardrobe, judging by the style.
C L A U D E
I have no idea but it's just beautiful. I can see her in that, very nice.
Brock
I'll be interested in seeing if the segment includes any photos of Lucy wearing it.
C L A U D E
Looks so Regal that one would think it would be to give a major award, like presenting the last Emmy or something. What kind of show is that anyway?
Brock
I haven't seen it yet, but it seems like a hybrid between Antiques Roadshow and Dragon's Den. From what I understand, people bring their antiques or curiosities into a room with four investors or collectors and they field cut throat offers on what they're bringing in. Brock
More on Sunday's show, as well as the dress owner's connection to Gale and his time spent on the LWL set: http://www.vancouversun.com/Shelley+Fralic+Vancouver+collector+appears+Four+Rooms/9400721/story.html
C L A U D E
Well, whadayouknow, another person Lucy was not a beeatch from hell with but sweet as pie. Can't wait to see the dress on the show.
Annaleigh
So many crappy Party City wigs in one room.
Brock
I wonder whether this was filmed before Lucie's auction? It seems to me they low-balled this dress.
C L A U D E
No kidding, if I still had a job, I would have gone to 5 thousand. These people are nuts, that woman will resell it and make a fortune. The only thing though is how could Lucy own a gown like that and not have it photographed up the wazoo, that was a major gown for a major event. I was thinking the same thing, but I assume it was a gown she was maybe planning to wear in 89, like the turquoise gown made for her on her way back to Jamestown. I remember another brown and gold gown that was designed for Lucy that incorporated fur like this, but she passed before having it made. Ive never seen her in it before. C L A U D E
Maybe, you're right, never thought of that, having it made and then never getting to wear it before she passed on.
C L A U D E
Thanks for the follow up Brock . . . when I saw the dress UP CLOSE, those beads on there are big and not as expensive as small beading, they used to make cheap hats here in the sixties with that big beading on there, so no wonder it went for so much less than I expected. The dress looks great from a distance, but seeing it up close, nyah, Lucy's worn nicer duds.
