rickee
Our hearts are sad today, as she is now gone…but take a quick look at this snippet from 2007. She is referring to "Here's Lucy" stint, not "The Lucy Show". What a grande dame.
Brock
What a grande dame. That sums it up pretty well. CNN has played a couple of clips of Lucy's appearances on The Tonight Show with Joan tonight.

JoeySanJoaquin
My heart has been heavy all day since hearing the news. I met her just recently at the LA Barnes & Noble signing event of her most recent book... she was late, but we waited and were glad we did. She seemed a bit preoccupied but couldn't have been more gracious.... so glad I was able to meet her after being a fan for over 40 years....and you know what? Say what you will about her appearance, given all the nips & tucks but in person... I'm not quite sure how to say it, but it was much more flattering, she looked pretty damn good! Four 18 year olds from a little cowtown in the middle of California got a "wild hair" to travel to Reno to see Miss Joan Rivers live...not realizing 18 year olds weren't old enough to be allowed into a casino --even if it was "just to see the show"! After several frantic phone calls trying to connect with Joan's "people" or office or hotel suite, one of the more intrepid in our group somehow tracked down her assistant, shared our plight ("We came all the way from XXX to see Miss Rivers and now find out we can't get into the show!!" etc.) and minutes later we got a call from that assistant telling us not to worry, we would be Miss Rivers' guests that evening and the show -- in more ways than one!! -- was on her!! Need less to say we had an amazing time, laughed our 18-year old asses off and made sure a humongous dozen red roses were delivered to her suite the very next day. Rest in peace Miss Rivers.....class act through and through!

Love this -- and love these behind-the-scenes stories that show what a nice woman she was at the end of the day.
Luvsbway
E! News people reiterated that kindness over and over last night. The one host got really choked up after they showed a clip of him on Fashion Police.
Lucyilove
I have a Lucy interview from the 80's somewhere where the reporter asked her about Joan (perhaps hoping to get a negative response ala Red Skelton about modern comedy?) and I remember Lucy saying something like Joan was a very hard working lady who earned and deserved her success. FreddieMertz
Always hated that Red didn't like modern comedy. He said it was too dirty. I've seen bloopers from his show from as early as the 50s and let me tell you- they were pretty far from clean.
