Carole Cook

Dinner @ 5:30, Show @ 7.
Friday, May 22 - Sunday, May 24, 2015

Carole Cook is a legendary comedienne and musical performer, she was the second Dolly in the world, having continued that show in Australia and New Zealand for two years.  Carole's professional career began when she co-starred in the famed off-Broadway production of The Three Penny Opera.

That show opened the doors for her in summer stock tours and she developed her own cabaret act.

Lucille Ball had heard about Carole and called her to audition for a group of actors to be called, The Desilu Revue.  Lucy was thrilled with Carole, but, made a sincere request,  "change your name from Mildred, to Carole."  She reminded her so much of Carole Lombard because, "they both had the same disrespect for everything in general."  So, Mildred became Carole and Lucy truly became her friend and mentor.

The two women became very close and when Carole met Tom Troupe, her soon to be husband, Lucy served as Matron of Honor at the wedding.

Carole was signed to a contract with a major studio and appeared in The Incredible Mr. Limpet, American Gigolo, Sixteen Candles, Grandview USA, Summer Lovers, AND, Palm Springs Weekend.  She was also the voice of Pearl, in the Disney animated feature, Home on the Range.

But, the stage has always been her favorite platform.  In addition to Hello Dolly, Carole created the role Maggie Jean in the Tony Award winning musical, 42nd Street with Jerry Orbach.    She was Blanche Dale in the Broadway hit, Romantic Comedy, as well as appearing in New York productions of 70 Girls 70, and, Radio Gals.

Carole starred around the country in major productions of Mame, Auntie Mame, Father's Day, Follies and The Supporting Cast.  She received the Helen Hayes Theatre Award for her role in Steel Magnolias.

Carole and her husband, Tom Troupe, have toured in productions of The Lion In Winter, Father's Day and, The Gin Game.  They were the first couple to receive the prestigious Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Lifetime Achievement Award.

Carole has guest starred on television and was most recently seen on Grey's Anatomy and Major Crimes Unit.

She is a great supporter for the fight against AIDS and has appeared for thirty consecutive years in the Los Angeles fund-raiser, S.T.A.G.E., helping to raise millions of dollars supporting victims of the disease.

Carole Cook and Tom Troupe live in West Hollywood and enjoy visiting the Palm Springs area.
