Neil
I LOVE this post/idea/line of thinking except for one GLARING example to which I can only think to reply, "You have GOT to be kidding"!!! Sometimes Emmy nominations are given for what is really an appreciation of a body of work rather than the cited performance, so I think Freddie was taking into account the other categories that Morton might have/should have been nominated for: Most Innovative Set Design: Gary Morton for his 3/4" scale replica of a European street for Desilu (had it ever been used in a production, that is). Outstanding Uninvited Talk Show Crasher: for his many "surprise" appearances interrupting interviews with Lucille Ball on various Merv Griffin Shows" Outstanding Personality Who Essentially Plays Himself, the category revived from its one-time appearance in the 1957 Emmys: Gary Morton as Gary Morton: "Lucy Meets Lucille Ball"

But you bring up a good point. Why wasn't there an episode called "Lucy Goes To Tiny Euroland"?
