Brock
I found out the hard way today that many Jamestown-area hotels are already booked for the 2015 Lucy Race this October. So, if anyone is planning on making the trek, book soon and cancel later! Hopefully the Center announces the headliner soon. It all hinges on the headliner for this non-runner and mildly enthusiastic walker.

MANY THANKS for this heads-up, Brock; I know Gregg is planning on being a 'walker'; so, I'll get the poop to him right away quick this a.m.! MaryJaneFan
I made reservations at the Best Western earlier this year, so I'm good with hotel reservations. I learned early on that any time there's an event going on in Jamestown to get hotel reservations well in advance. If I end up not attending, I can cancel with no penalty. Now I just need to register for the race itself.

MaryJaneFan
Ma and Dad AREN'T coming?????????? And; why the heck aren't you bragging about the Lucy barstool???? Loving you, JK Yes, Mom and Dare coming too. All three of us are registered for the 5K. I was really thrilled that Mom and Dad won Lloyd Faulkner's I Love Lucy Casino Chair in the festival auction. They were so excited about it, they even made a special trip Monday evening (the day after they returned from Jamestown) to deliver it after work. I now have it in my living room and enjoy using it. Now to bring down the needlework, which I won in the silent auction in 2011. (Lloyd made two needlework pieces - the exact same design - of the 100th birthday logo. He donated one to the Center, and it hangs in the Museum gift shop. The other went into the silent auction.)

MaryJaneFan
Sad news, but the four years were great fun. "In an effort to focus time and resources on the grand opening of the National Comedy Center, annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, and daily operation of the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, we have come to a decision that Lucy Town Half Marathon & 5K race weekend will no longer take place. We would like to thank the many great volunteers, sponsors, and most importantly YOU, the runners, for making the past four years incredible. We have been proud to welcome runners from across the country to Jamestown and without you none of this would have been possible. While the National Comedy Center will no longer be involved with the annual half marathon, 5K, and kids run, efforts are already being made to have a new race in its place during Columbus Day weekend in downtown Jamestown. Please visit BuffaloRunners.com for more information on the upcoming race. Thank you again for your continued support, and we hope that you have enjoyed participating in our Lucy Race weekend just as much as we’ve enjoyed hosting it!" -quoted from www.runwithlucy.com

leenorman
What's going on?! I had no idea about the change in Race until this past Friday. I'm so glad you posted it; because I had NO IDEA; no P-J articles, unless I've missed it; nothing in e-mail from the Center; where did you get the info? And....you owe me an e-mail about 'things'...... FIRST, the Center partners up with Chautauqua (THAT stinks!); now the RACE cancellation; not ANY recent news about the 'what was last published about total funding for the Center'; that stinks; maybe they are even getting ready for another change in regime; who the heck knows......
