Mot Morenzi
Well this is bizarre. At least he isn't suing for millions in royalties for the "use" of his name.
Luvsbway
Not buying this. He makes it sound like Desi was floating around Hollywood for awhile before he met Lucy. Wasn't the timeline more like within the month he got there?
LittleRickyII
Not buying this. He makes it sound like Desi was floating around Hollywood for awhile before he met Lucy. Wasn't the timeline more like within the month he got there? No, I'm not sure I buy it. Desi came to Los Angeles from New York specifically to appear in Too Many Girls. He met Lucille Ball almost as soon as he got there. Incidentally, there seem to be lots of Ricky Ricardos: http://www.whitepages.com/name/Ricky-Ricardo And for that matter, there are a few Lucy Ricardos, too: http://www.whitepages.com/name/Lucy-Ricardo I wonder if any of them are friends with any of the Fred and Ethel Mertzes? http://www.whitepages.com/name/Ethel-Mertz http://www.whitepages.com/name/Fred-Mertz Well this is bizarre. At least he isn't suing for millions in royalties for the "use" of his name. Desi used to claim the character was named after Ricardo Montalban. And Lucille Ball claimed the "car" in Ricardo was from the first three letters of Carole Lombard's name. Now I'm curious: Will real Larry Lopez please stand up? Neil
And for that matter, there are a few Lucy Ricardos, too: But NO Lucy Barkers!
LittleRickyII
But NO Lucy Barkers! Oh, but there are MANY Lucy Barkers: http://www.whitepages.com/name/Lucy-Barker But none of them seem to live in Pasadena. A bit off topic, but THIS is the real name that has surprised me the most: http://www.whitepages.com/name/Herman-Munster/Ypsilanti-MI/4xb98u4
Neil
Wow...I'll bet that guy's life has been rough. What are some parents thinking? I knew an England family that named their daughter London; and a Hood family that named their son Robin. The 65+ year old Lucy Ricardos are just a coincidence but the 40-44 one had to be on purpose. LittleRickyII
Wow...I'll bet that guy's life has been rough. What are some parents thinking? I knew an England family that named their daughter London; and a Hood family that named their son Robin. The 65+ year old Lucy Ricardos are just a coincidence but the 40-44 one had to be on purpose. That guy's life has bound to have been tough. He's in his early 40s. I remember that around 1980, TM was still being heavily rerun at the time. I was in high school and used to watch it every afternoon. This guy would have been a kid at the time. I can only imagine the grief he got from kids at school. As for those Lucy Ricardos, a few of them are in their 30s, 40s and 50s, so they were born well after I Love Lucy started. It's possible they may have become Lucy Ricardo by marriage, which would be their own fault for taking their husbands' surname. But if any of them were given that name by their parents and grew up with that name, they were bound to have been teased. And the same for those young Ricky Ricardos and Fred Mertzes. Only the Ethel Mertzes appear to have been born before I Love Lucy began. London England and Robin Hood, seriously? You've met these people? I've known some people that were not given the most thoughtful names, but nothing like that!
