Entertainment Weekly Launches EW PopFest, the Ultimate Pop Culture Event, in Los Angeles October 29-30, 2016

Entertainment Weekly comes to life with a two-day festival showcasing the biggest names and most exciting acts in entertainment — all in one place.

Time Inc.’s Entertainment Weekly will present EW PopFest on October 29 – 30, 2016, at The Reef located in downtown Los Angeles. EW PopFest is the latest consumer event to be produced by INVNT, the live media agency which Time Inc. acquired last year. EW PopFest will be the first and only entertainment festival to feature multiple media platforms under one roof, including appearances and performances by A-list talent across movies, TV, music, gaming and books. EW PopFest furthers the brand’s commitment to live consumer events including last month’s kick off of a multi-year partnership between EW and the ATX Television Festival and the debut of Entertainment Weekly’s Con-X, a new unique experiential oasis for Comic-Con fans at this summer’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, July 21-24.

“EW PopFest is the latest example of the exciting brand extensions taking place at Entertainment Weekly,” said Rich Battista, President of the Time Inc. Entertainment & Sports Group and Video. “These live events build and expand on the brand’s pillars of TV, movies, music and books, offering consumers and marketing partners dynamic interactive experiences from the most trusted source in entertainment and further accelerates Time Inc.’s goal of becoming a globally recognized force in live media.”

EW PopFest’s line-up will include appearances from James Corden, the host of CBS' The Late Late Show, a live performance by pop superstar Nick Jonas, discussions with Oscar-winning actress and director Jodie Foster, and Emmy-winning showrunner Ryan Murphy and friends. Attendees will have an opportunity to see first-look footage and special guests from Sony's Dark Tower, a reunion with the cast of Happy Endings performing a never-before-seen episode, the cast of The CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend performing their musical mashups live, and a conversation between husband-and-wife YA superstars Tahareh Mafi (Shatter Me) and Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). The weekend will conclude with a 20th anniversary Scream celebration including a Wes Craven tribute, followed by an outdoor screening of the film. Additional programming will be announced in the coming weeks.

Entertainment Weekly’s curatorial talents will be brought to life as a two-day festival with a mix of pop culture related events including live music, film and television screenings, talks with talent and creators including actors, TV showrunners, film directors, videogame designers, authors and more. EW PopFest will offer an unforgettable immersive experience for fans, celebrities and brand partners.

With a built-in fan base and millennial draw, EW PopFest will attract cross-generational attendees, tapping into Entertainment Weekly’s combined audience of 28 million loyal, engaged fans. This highly interactive celebration of pop culture will engage consumers with innovative live and digital experiences, setting a standard no other festival can challenge.

EW PopFest will take place at The Reef, located at 1933 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90007, in downtown Los Angeles. A detailed schedule of events along with additional confirmed talent will follow.
