Luvsbway
You have to admit that Lucy in that dressing room scene with Gene and the new red hair she was a knock out.
mark bale
Yes she looked very glam. The dubbing of her song at the start wasn't too good. Very fake. Wonder why Gene Kelly never did one of her TV shows.

Yeah, typical movie decisions, they give her RED hair for the very first time and then hide it under a powedered wig for almost the entire film. Luvsbway
What gets me about the singing in that is all her songs are dubed except the last one. Is it because of the more comic element to it?
mark bale
I think so luvsbway, maybe the woman who did the dubbing felt the comic song was beneath her

Is it because of the more comic element to it? Well, by the time Mame rolled around the majority of the English speaking world was beyond familiar with Lucy's natural voice that having someone else dub her may have been even more distracting to audiences. Is it because of the more comic element to it? Well, yeah, they all sang it together, so why would they just dub HER part? Lucy next to Merman or Garland might be a problem, but Skelton and Kelly, she's fine! LOL!

MONALISAISMONALUCY
Who the hell is Marni Nixon? One of Tricky Dicky's two daughters? She sang when they couldn't get Julie Andrews. I had an album of songs from Mary Poppins with Marni Nixon singing the tunes that Julie did in the film. Marni Nixon was practically a dead ringer vocally.
