Neil
I got word that Coyne Steven Sanders, the co-author of "Desilu" (along with Tom Gilbert), has died from a heart condition he has been battling for a few years. Only 56 years old. In addition to Desilu, he wrote one of the best historic television books ever, about the making of The Judy Garland Show. I don't know how many times I've read it. I pick it up to find a reference and end of reading it all over again.
Brock
That's very sad, and so young. Desilu is one of the all time great and invaluable "Lucy" books.
C L A U D E
I might not have liked certain parts of his great DESILU book but regardless, it's one of the all time best Lucy books ever written. If he had done nothing else, that would be enough to be remembered fondly by any reader out there. The exact same age my dad died, much too young. Luvsbway
First Lucy book I ever read. Read it many times over from that initial time I got it when I was in 8th grade. I met him once, briefly at the 97 LA Convention book signing.
mickie
I was in shock when I got an email yesterday telling me he passed away in his sleep. I met Steve two years ago at a Judy convention/meeting in NY. He was a delightful man and every funny too. So glad that I got to spend sometime with him. I have kept in touch with him thru Facebook and a friend of mine who lives in Chicago knew him well. I had heard he hadn't been feeling well lately but this was a surprise. Steve did so much for the Garland and the Ball legend. I told him I loved Desilu, which I did, it's a book you can easily re-read. May he rest in Peace. Mmadluv7
Oh! what sad news!. Sending my prayers and condolences to his friends and family. Desilu is the Desilu Bible in many cases lol What a loss, but what great work we have of his to cherish.
MONALISAISMONALUCY
So sad to hear of his passing. "Desilu" was a great book about Lucy, Desi and the studio they created together.

mickie
I was told it was probably from natural causes, probably his heart, but we will just have to wait to see what the exact cause of death was. I don't think it's been in the press/media as of yet. Will let you know Claude.
