Brock
What do we know about the otherwise untitled picture Ricky Ricardo eventually made after Don Juan was shelved? Are we given any other closes aside from it having a vague romantic angle co-starring Claude Akins? lol And what of the rest of his fleeting movie and television career? Moon Over Baghdad -- Ricky was up for the lead in this full-screen colour spectacle Phipps Presents: Breakfast With Ricky & Lucy -- got through half of an episode Saturday Night Varieties -- Host Untitled aborted 1958/59 Hollywood film production Ricky Ricardo Presents: Tropical Rhythms -- unexpectedly western musical pilot Face to Face -- Interview subject .... lots more! HarryCarter
We know that the movie opened in February 1956 at the Radio City Music Hall (which is not 49th Street as Lucy says). The Ricardos would have been in Europe at that time, so Ricky wouldn't have attended the premiere. The Ricardos did attend a preview of the picture sometime before they appeared on Face to Face. Ricky was also in talks to do a picture with Sir Clive Richardson in England that never materialized. Other TV credits include a guest shot on a series sponsored by a client of the advertising firm of Burton, Washman & Ramsey, guest appearances on "Guest Stars," "Be a Good Neighbor," "Millikan's Chicken Mash Hour," and "The Red Skelton Show," emcee of the coast-to-coast Heart Fund Benefit, at least two hosting gigs on shows on Charlie Appleby's TV station, and possible appearances on Milton Berle and Ernie Kovacs programs and The Ed Sullivan Show. There's also Ricky's Broadway career in Too Many Girls and he was promised a role in Mr. Merriweather's new show that was never mentioned again.
Neil
Untitled aborted 1958/59 Hollywood film production This one was "postponed" so it may have been made at some point. But perhaps they got Cugat after all. And what of his recording career? "Forever Darling" and "Babalu" of course....but on the "Handcuff" show he lists his "HIT" records "Yucatan" , "Semido" and "In Santiago Chile" and doesn't the locksmith Will Wright say "My kids have your record albums"? From "The Fox Hunt", I think we can also conclude the Ricardo-Akins picture was far more popular in Europe than it was in North America. nertz2mertz
From "Lucy Hates to Leave:" Maybe I'll get a hit record. You've never had one before. Supposedly Ricky was well known and popular for his rendition of "Babalu".
