Recommended Posts

The third season of TCM’s podcast, The Plot Thickens, will be all about Lucy!

Fabled comedienne Lucille Ball will be the subject of the third installment of the Turner Classic Movies podcast The Plot Thickens, hosted by Ben Mankiewicz, it was announced Wednesday.

The 10-episode Ball podcast will premiere in October and feature more than 50 new interviews in an examination of her life, from her early years as a model to her “triumphant takeover of television,” a network statement says. It promises “surprising revelations at every turn.”

I haven't heard this podcast mainly since I don't know where to go to listen!!  I'm curious of eveyone's opinions of the podcast.  Thanks all!!

You can listen to the first season and the just premiered second season on the TCM website, YouTube, or whenever podcasts are available.

The first season on Peter Bogdanovich was terrific. The current second season - about the making of the film Bonfire of the Vanities is very engrossing. I don’t know of anything that has presented the making of a movie with such an unfiltered access.

The podcast going to do an outstanding job with Lucy.

Lucy’s season now has a page!

I’m very curious who the 50 people interviewed are not to mention any “surprising revelations.”

As a side note, I’ve been wishing old Hollywood podcast “You Must Remember This” would cover Lucy is some form. The host, Karina Longworth, goes above and beyond in their research, engaging narration, music, etc. Highly recommend everyone check out that podcast as well.

I'll have to check this out. I've been working my way through Depalma films and most recently watched Vanities.

I am in love. the rare clips, how they were used to tell the story, and how vividly they tell the story that I can picture it in my head. My favorite parts were Lucy and her mom discussing when Henry died. The story Lucy tells about her and Ed seeing Julius and especially all the Johnny stuff. I was listening on my way to work and applauded when I I heard Jimmy's name.

From the social media reports I'm seeing on Lucy groups and pages people are loving this.

Desi's went with an overriding theme that I didn't see coming. I think it was handled very well because it lays the ground work to help explain things in their marriage and the eventual demise. I also like that these episodes are not trying to be light and fluffy but get into some very adult stuff with some adult language used by Lucy and Desi themselves.
