I watched a bit of Merman on The Griffin show too with Lucy's silhouette in the backgound at the desk with Ginger and Merv.
HarryCarter
I love Elaine Stritch and I love this number. She played Vera in one of the national tours and also played Mame in stock. Judy Garland was in talks to replace Angela on Broadway and Stritch said she should have done it with her. Stritch said they should switch up playing Mame and Vera depending on who felt up to doing Mame that night. That would have been something to see. C L A U D E
Elaine as Vera opposite Janet Blair: My link I'm trying to find photos of her as Mame. Elaine Stritch and Dorothy Loudon are my two favorite people to You Tube to watch them in musical numbers. But i had never seen the numbers from Mame, she was great back then and in fine voice.
