Brock
... because nothing screams American youth in 1979 like Bob Hope, George Burns, Dinah Shore, and Les Brown & His Band of Renown. Presenting... the first (and only) American Youth Awards! Our gal comes out at 2:10 in Part 2. Pt. 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVEoT1Y6kpg Pt. 2, in which Lucy, Bob, and gymnast Kurt Thomas reminisce about a non-existent episode of I Love Lucy* which Bob apparently remembers quite well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cxM0tHsZxM (*I don't imagine the Westinghouse tour of Desilu had much air play in 1979) This is the most awkward "youth" awards show I have ever seen. An Evelyn Keyes joke? *ZING!*
Taylor
Jesus, 'awkward' ain't the word for it. I don't think there's a good word for it actually. Never did get Bob Hope's humor half the time. Just not funny. I must say, Lucy looks good though.
leenorman
I can find NO REFERENCE to this show...anywhere; well, at least in those sites I frequent for information: wikipedia and IMDb....any suggestions? I want to make sure I have all stars to add to their birth, and possibly, death, bios for the chronology. If this site is accurate at all, it looks to be a WUNDAFUL source of appearances for our many beloved performers, especially those who appeared on countless variety shows such as Hope's over the years! HarryCarter
This sounds SPECTACULAR! I think Lucie and Robert Klein were in this. I've seen it listed among their credits and they are listed in the TV Guide close-up, but I've watched it and neither are in the version I saw.
