I always thought it curous she went all the way to Chicago and didn't make it on Oprah!! WTF???

"Oprah" didn't start until 1986, the same year as Lucy's final talk show appearance. Oprah's local "AM Chicago" show did start in 1984, though. Maybe Lucy just didn't get out to Chicago during that time. She was on a few talk shows during her time in Chicago in 1977.

Well...Oprah's loss was Kupicinet's gain! ;)

Kup was HUGE at that time, he was the Oprah of his day. I agree, terrific interview, i've seen it many times on the Lucy videos section on the net.

Really? To be honest, I'd never heard of him save for this video and wundaful interview, short though it may be. I still can't get over how she wasn't "done up" for this, but then Irma surely hadn't traveled with her to "make her magic"! :D

Lucy was on another local talk show, "The Lee Phillip Show," (Lee Phillip created "The Young & the Restless" and "The Bold & the Beautiful") that same week and was much more put together. It looked like she was wearing the same long wig she wore on "Donny & Marie" that same year.

64 DAYS LEFT

What is your number one memory of Lucille Ball from August 1975 - August 1976? (64th year of her life)

My answer is a double answer this time : THREE FOR TWO AND WHAT NOW, CATHERINE CURTIS. Both excellent in their own right.

She sure was DONE UP when she did that Deavon Edmond show or whatever it was called, in London while doing her SPECIAL there, Lucy in London any of you hear of that one? I hear it might come out on dvd soon, LOL! She had the same outfit as that photo shoot on some N Y balcony, very elegant, long gloves, fancy suit, i think from Critic's Choice.

yeah i think lucy gets luckys is great too but think it needed the laugh track to pep it up a bit. The funny bits seem to fall abit flat with out it. Guess its just what im used to with lucy

It HAD to have a laugh track as that show could NOT be filmed in front of an audience, it was all over the place, in the casino, outside, running around or even driving around, there is no way that the audience could be there, which was a shame, that's the only thing it's missing, a funny special but no real laughs from an audience, only that damned fake laugh track. Which ruined many a Lucy Desi comedy hour for me.

But when its in those sorts of circumstances, they sometimes show the film in a theatre and record the audience laugh track and place that on the film. I know they've done if for parts of shows that cant be filmed in front of an audience when the rest is.

OMG, you are so wronggggggggggggggg, Lucy Gets Lucky was one of her all time B E S T specials.

OMG! How can you say that Claude? I appreciate your opinion but there were SOOOOO many better specials than that! I have watched that show twice with other people and it's actually the only special that I wonder when it will end. They also don't find it funny at all. The ONLY part I actually laugh at is when Lucy is driving the cars in the carpark. Apart from that I find it dull and drab.

You're right, and they should have done that with every show she ever did.
